In March, one of my favourite people in the world passed away, my Grandad. For a while I had been thinking of getting a tattoo I just had no clue what to get. A few days after the funeral, my dad and I began talking about what we would get if we had to get a tattoo dedicated to Grandad. Immediately my mind jumped to the flower he had made me out of pottery when I was younger, and the flower we had chosen for his funeral, the sunflower. Immediately I fell in love with idea, before I knew it my dad and I were booked in for tattoos. The process itself was extremely painful (duh) I had chosen my ribs so that the tattoo would be close to my heart and could be easily hidden if I wanted. Just so happens, this is also the most painful place to get a tattoo. This resulted in a 5 minute tat taking 45 minutes with me wriggling and wincing.. and I have a high pain threshold! Honestly, it was probably an 8 or 9 out of 10 for pain and literally felt like a scalpel cutting into me whenever it hit the bone, however the skin in between the ribs was pretty much painless! However I am ecstatic with how it came out and I know my Grandad would’ve loved it as it means I can take him everywhere with me, right next to my heart.
Introducing to you, my tattoo…..
