VELVET FLARES N ART

Another date with Lorna, yep were obsessed with eachother.

After eyeing up the velvet suits from Marks and Spencer’s since September, I finally bit the bullet and copped them for £15 on New years eve in the sales, I mean, they may be a little too big, but nothing a textiles student can’t fix…

TRANSITIONAL DRESSING.

I can’t lie, I despise transitional dressing. I think it is one of the most tedious things in the world, to give you an example of why, I’m ready to go out into the rain in sandals, a) because I’m secretly still hoping thew sun will come out and b) because I haven’t bought any other shoes that go with this outfit yet. Consequently, I am also going to have to pair this look with a very not – waterproof denim jacket, because a cosy, warm jacket wouldn’t go with sandals right? So annoying.

It seems I’m not the only one who hates transitional dressing, the shops do too, I think they hate us as well for needing to dress accordingly for the weather change because their stock at this time of year is terrible I mean seriously guys help a girl out! It is usually a round about now that I start mixing the previous years winter pieces, with this years summer pieces. Honestly, I don’t think it is easy, early September nights I lay in bed literally conjuring up new outfit ideas, however I do like this a little as I feel as thought I actually have to put work into my style and my outfits end up being a lot more calculated.

So to begin the transitional season, here is an OOTD which will hopefully inspire;

Second hand series #1

Welcome to the first instalment of my new Second hand series!’ For years I held a stigma against charity shops, I thought they were dirty, for old women-in fact I refused to set foot in them! When the vintage trends became more popular  I decided to check out what all the fuss was about. Sure enough my mind was blown… I could shop designer labels, and help a good cause?!
Now they are probably one of my favourite places to shop – and I don’t see any shame in it! In this series I will put together a series of outfits from second hand stores in order to show you why they are the dark horse of high street shops. Let’s banish this stigma and show everyone just what you can find in charity shops!

Here is my first outfit, at a total of just £8.50 (not including sunglasses) I was head to toe in designer labels – you’ve just got to have a good eye!

Top – Banana Republic £2

Skirt – Principles petite range £2

Shoes – Fiore £4.50

Monochrome is definitely one of my favourite 2015 trends so finding each of these pieces left me feeling very smug and not a bit broke! I know I’ll get my wear out of these this year!

Let me know what you think of charity shops!

OOTN: Prom

Prom was swiftly upon me after finishing my exams, I found myself spending days in the run up relentlessly practising my hair and makeup. (I opted to do my own because I’m very fussy!) And I’m pretty happy with the finished look so I decided to share it with you…

Hair & Makeup

I left my hair in a natural curly bun as I didn’t want to take away from the wonderful embroidery of the dress.

I used smokey tones in my eyeshadow paired with brown liquid and Kohl liner, my lashes were individual lashes from Eylure and I used Maybelline Cat eyes mascara. My make-up was inspired by classic red carpet make-up so obviously I couldn’t go without my red lippy….

The outfit

My dress was from Virgos Lounge, I have been desperate to buy from here for so long but never had an excuse for one of the gorgeous dresses – check them out! My shoes were rocket dog, my necklace, bag and bracelet were all from my wardrobe so I don’t know where they’re from and my earrings were from Tk Maxx.

Hope you enjoyed seeing what I wore for prom! Stay tuned for the rest of my summer fashion!

Ootd: A day at the beach…

Ootd: 11th April 2015

The sun was out today however the wind was deceptively cold! Still, according to the calendar, British summer time has begun! It’s hard to dress bohemian in winter which is probably why summer is my favourite season….I’m a hippy at heart. And maybe if I dress like I’m at Coachella, I wont feel so jealous seeing the live snapchat story…. maybe.

Here’s my OOTD!
